Mid-late high-yielding carrots Canada F1 is a hybrid form of Dutch selection. The originator of the variety is the world famous company Bejo Zaden. Carrots Canada F1 is included in the State Register of the Russian Federation for the Central Region.

Grade characteristics

Ripens in the medium term. From the appearance of mass seedlings until root crops reach technical ripeness, 125-135 days pass. The variety grows well in areas with heavy soils.

Semi-spreading leaf rosette. Leaves are dark green, moderately dissected. Root crops are relatively long, conical in shape, with a slightly pointed end part. The color of the cortex and core is predominantly orange. The average weight of marketable root crops varies from 130 to 170 g. Taste is excellent.

Carrot pulp at the stage of full ripening contains:

  • dry matter - a little more than 14%;
  • total sugars - just over 8%,
  • carotene - 21-22 mg per 100 g of pulp.

Commercial yield under optimal conditions is from 300 to 630 kg / ha. The output of marketable products is not less than 93%.

The choice of carrots

Presowing seed treatment

There are several manufacturers of carrots seeds Canada F1, however, according to reviews of vegetable growers, planting material from the agricultural companies "Search" and "Gavrish" shows the highest germination rate. Untreated seeds are characterized by tight similarity, therefore, subject to mandatory pre-sowing preparation:

  1. Sorting. Seeds are immersed in warm water and thoroughly mixed: low-quality and unlikely specimens will float to the surface.
  2. Heat treated. Seeds are immersed in water at a temperature of + 50 ... +55 ° C, and then dried.
  3. Sparging (keeping for one day in oxygenated water at room temperature). After that, the seeds are treated with a solution of potassium permanganate.
  4. Growth stimulant treatment: "Fitosporin", sodium humate.

It should be remembered that sowing germinated seeds accelerates the emergence of seedlings by about a week.

Sowing is carried out in late April or the first half of May. With the standard planting scheme, the seeds are buried by 1 cm, and the distance between the rows is 15-20 cm. The grown carrot seedlings are systematically thinned, leaving 5-6 cm gaps between the plants.

Care Tips

Carrots Canada F1 is relatively unpretentious. Too slow and unfriendly emergence of seedlings is the result of improper preparation of seeds for sowing and illiterate care of plants.

Despite the sufficient drought tolerance of carrots, watering should be plentiful. It is better to spend them in the early morning or after sunset, not too often. The total water consumption of carrots depends on the stage of vegetation, as well as on the type of soil on the site.

Standard care involves, in addition to watering, regular cultivation and weeding, thinning seedlings, top dressing, as well as the prevention of pests and diseases.

Reviews gardeners

Variety Canada F1 received high marks from gardeners due to its high stable yield, good marketability, evenness of root crops and excellent taste. The hybrid is highly resistant to major diseases and grows well and develops on heavy and clay soils. With proper care, the yield reaches 5.5-7.5 kg per square meter.

Harvesting Carrots

Carrots Canada F1 is characterized by an increased content of beta-carotene, so it is recommended for baby and diet food. The variety is used fresh, in cooking, and also has a good reputation in freezing.
